Today's Scholars . . . Tomorrow's Leaders
Akron Early College High School is a fresh approach to high school. Students enrolled at Early College attend their entire 4 years of High School on the University of Akron campus taking High School and University coursework.
Why?
Students enrolled at Early College will graduate High School with their High School Diploma and an Associates Degree from the University of Akron. University coursework and text books provided free of charge to students. The program is designed for first-generation college applicants. Classes are taught at The University of Akron by a combination of high school teachers and college professors.
Who is eligible to enroll?
Students in the Akron Public Schools system (and surrounding districts) apply for Akron Early College in their 8th grade year. Each year 100 new freshman are selected from surrounding middle schools. 8th graders who have a desire to participate in a rigorous and academically focused high school experience on a University campus are welcomed to apply.
